All our classes follow the school terms unless otherwise stated.
All the classes are suitable for anyone 16yrs+ unless otherwise stated, so pick a class and come along and join in the fun!
If there is a class you'd like to see on the timetable, or there's a class you like, but it's at the wrong time for you, then please drop us a line as we are always adding to our timetable and would love to know what you'd like to see at Calon Yarns .
Introduction to Machine Sewing - 6 wk Course - £95
Every Monday 7:00 - 9:00pm, begins Mon 3rd June - Mon 8th July 2013
These sessions will guide you from the basics of threading your machine, winding your bobbin and using the basic stitches on the machine all the way to creating seams, darts, piping, buttonholes, zips etc and you'll put all these techniques into practise by designing and making your own bag/cushion cover/simple skirt.....it's up to you!
If you want to get to grips with your machine, learn practical sewing skills and build your confidence, then this is the course for you! With small groups and practical help and advice at every stage, you'll be the master of your machine in no time!
Cost - £95 (includes practise materials and refreshments, but not the fabric for your personal project)
Follow a Commercial Pattern - Machine Sewing
Every Tuesday 7:00- 9:00, begins Tuesday 4th June- Tue 9th July 2013
If you can use a sewing machine but would love to expand your skills and are keen to follow a commercial pattern, then this is the perfect course for you!
Bring along a pattern that you are keen to have a go at or we can help you with some pattern choices and over the 6 weeks you will learn how to cut your pattern to the size you require, how to adapt and adjust it to fit your size and shape, how to decipher all those confusing instructions and how to create a wonderful, bespoke and unique item of clothing.....your seamstress journey has just begun!

Learn to Knit - 5 week course - £80
Every Monday 7:00 - 9:00pm, begins Mon 17th June - Mon 9th July 2013
Have you always wanted to take up the needles and knit beautiful hat and scarves?.....maybe a lovely Summer Shawl?!
Knitting hasn't been so popular since the 1940's so come along and learn this fabulous craft. The patterns and yarns available now are wonderfully modern and beautiful, a far cry from the itchy wool of school jumpers!
We will learn to cast on, knit, purl and bind off. We will also learn how to follow basic patterns, add colour to your work, recognise and correct basic mistakes and how to sew in your ends and seam up your projects like a pro!
Maybe you were taught to knit when you were a child and would like to re-learn or you feel pretty rusty with the needles after a long absence....or maybe it's something you've always wanted to do....whatever the reason come along and we will work to your pace and get you knitting like a Nana in no time!

Learn to Crochet - 5 week course - £80
Every Tuesday 7:00- 9:00, begins Tuesday 18th June - Tue 16th July 2013
Would you like to be handy with a hook?
Crochet is experiencing a huge revival at the moment and the patterns and yarns available are fresh and exciting and with just a few basic stitches you can create wonderful embellishments or add interesting edges and borders to knitted or felted projects.
Over the five sessions we’ll learn the basic stitches, how to follow a patterns and charts to create squares, circles and simple flowers. We will also look at adding and changing colour and different methods of adding shape and texture.
So why not join us and learn this fabulous craft that's quick, easy and hugely addictive!

How to Book
If you would like to book a place on one of our wonderful workshops or classes then please give us a ring on 02920 211508 or send us an email at info@calonyarns.co.uk telling us which date you would like and give us your full name , address and contact number.
We will then ask for a deposit of around 40% of the total fee to secure your place, you can either pop in to pay or pay by card over the phone. This deposit is non-refundable. You would then need to pay the balance of your workshop/course fee two weeks before the start date. We are unable to offer a refund for any workshops or courses that are unattended, but you are more than welcome to send someone else in your place!
We will always try to be accommodating, so if you have any problems with booking or have to cancel then let us know with as much notice as possible and we will try to help.
